The Last Enemy: A Soldier's Story

On November 17, 2008 our son, Midshipman Frederick Henry Eissler, succumbed to complications from bacterial meningitis at the age of 20. Attending the United States Naval Academy was his lifelong dream. It was cut short in his plebe year. Freddy knew he was going to die…seven months before he ever took ill. You see, Freddy’s death was foretold to me in a dream. After Freddy passed we were in pain. As his mother I knew that if I went down so would our family. But letting go of this pain was scary because I thought if I let go of the pain I would lose my son forever. But God had other plans. He showed me another way. God taught me that through tragedy He can bring triumph if I would cooperate with Him. So I did and this is my story…
