Seventh graders J. J. and Henri are adjusting to their mysterious Saros stones. In this, the second book in the series, controlling time becomes easier for them, especially after they accidentally learn about each other’s power to freeze time for one hour and turn time back one hour. Two kidnappings and two accidents require their time-stopping powers as the story progresses. Working together provides both tears and joy. Much to their surprise, their necklace and bracelet both disappear. J. J. and Henri begin to share adventures and soon learn about an invasion they must deal with. Dr. M moves to the middle school as a counselor and takes a leading role in guiding the kids. Soldiers, intent on capturing Dr. M, arrive from Saros. They plan to torture him and make him reveal the secret of his magno-pulse machine. J. J. and Henri emerge from the secret control room where Dr. M and the two grandmothers have just revealed an incredible and unbelievable secret about their ancestry. The kids find their grandmothers gagged and tied to chairs, Dr. M lying in a pool of blood, and several soldiers aiming strange weapons at them. The mystery of their fathers’ disappearance is explained, and an antagonist with special powers is introduced. The spies find jobs and begin to adjust to life on Earth. And then, their hideout burns down with their radio inside. Now they have no way to contact their base, and the Earth’s yellow sun has begun to deteriorate their cellular structure. The Saronian prophecy nears fulfillment as the final members of the team are selected to join J. J. and Henri. Now, they must prepare for the upcoming battle to save Earth, and hopefully, Saros.
