It surprised the crew when they received a frantic plea from an ancient, powerful race whom they had encountered on the preceding voyage of the spaceship Taran. The non-corporeal Travonians had somehow traced the humans back to their solar system to ask assistaance in stopping another corporeal raced from mining the energy that constitutes their very essence. Millions of people are being sucked up in Bussard collectors by entities who have no idea what they are doing. Through a quirk in the librarian's mind, Bea is able link with the Travonian called "Teahouse." Through that portal the Taran Crew would try to save a whole civilization.
