The Oregon Vortex

From his secret runaway hiding spot in an Oregon Vortex, fifteen year-old Vid can see what appears to be a gigantic object hurtling toward Earth. Apparently, no one else can see it. A teacher, who has a large telescope, couldn't find it.There are no reported electronic warnings. To verify his sighting, he asks Nit to come take a look. She can see it too. They must do something.

Before they can act, the pair is scooped up by aliens from a solar sail, who are stealing earth trees to take home to their cooling planet. The kids are now curios of a race of half energy and half physical people as they sweep off into space for a 70 year journey. Now the kids must find a reason for the Hafies to return them to Earth.
