Henry Evans was in the second year of his Marine Biology degree when a routine visit to the university gym opened up an ‘opportunity-of-a-lifetime’.

On being nationally selected to trek to the South Pole as part of the two man International Scott Centenary Expedition (ISCE), Henry was launched into the tough realities of polar training and the world of media - from live BBC television interviews to meeting with David Attenborough to running fundraising marathons in a penguin costume. And that’s before he set off for the South Pole!

Henry describes this remarkable journey and its links with the celebrated polar explorer Captain Robert Falcon Scott, including his own diary and breath-taking photos.
