Description

Clear-cut information about what is in the Islamic Qur’an. A summary of all its parts with its derivation and a review of its contents. Included are the Qur’an’s instructions to people, Islam and human rights, Islam and women and the future of humanity. Muhammad’s words in the Qur’an are the main basis of Islam. After Muhammad died the head of the government had the Qur’an written and five copies made before people could forget what Muhammad had said in his homilies. Mainly he said thatpeople must believe, must pray and must fight with Muhammad in his army so as to go to Paradise and avoid Hell. Generally they should do good things and even free a slave sometimes. Most humane educated people want to see a world being developed to be of mutual benefit to all of mankind. This is not part of the Qur’an as written. This book reviews the changed circumstances. Then there were warring tribes and no industry. Women, wives and slaves, were regarded as weak, stupid possessions paid for by men. Nowadays there is industry, services, big companies and big government. Long careful study has shown that earthquakes and floods are not really due to the sudden impulse of a furious Lord as Muhammad supposed. Education has shown that women are just as intelligent as men. Some prominent modern Muslims think that the true spirit of Islam based on one Lord is valid today. Details may be questioned and rethought as has been done before. Iran though has rejected the UN Declaration of Human Rights on the basis that it does not accord with Muslim beliefs. At 40 Muhammad did not at first understand his new dreams but decided they came from the Lord. The key was that where was only one Lord and Muhammad must tell people. Forget about other gods. More dreams based on stories from Judaism and Christianity came at long intervals. At 43 Muhammad started to tell the stories as proof of a Lord who would kill unbelievers, non-Muslims, or after death send them to Hell forever. Unless really evil all male believers would go to a Paradise with no work and continual food, drink and sex. Not many people accepted him then. At 53 more people accepted him in Medina and made notes of his many homilies (no writing paper yet). He got a good reputation, became a leader and made peace with Christians and Jews. Later he became a warlord and decided the unconverted, including Jews and Christians, should be killed or at least have their houses, wives and slaves seized. Then with his army he conquered Mecca and destroyed the idols in the holy shrine.
