By the time my grandson was 5 years old, I had taught him basic literacy along with numerous math and logic skills that would be considered complex for his age, including: * verbalize and write numbers up to 36 digits long, identifying the decillions, nonillions, through to the billions, millions, thousands, and hundreds in the number; * identify fractions as proper or improper and reason out which fraction was greater or lesser and by how much; * correctly distribute a set of items based on ratios of 1:2, 2:3, 3:7, 4:5, and so on; * do direct negative subtractions without the need to re-position numbers; * draw the X and Y axes of coordinate geometry, populate the axes with positive and negative numbers, number the quadrants, identify the coordinate signs in each quadrant, plot and identify the coordinates of points on a grid; * recite and understand the definitions of "point", "line", "straight line", "absolute value", and other mathematical terms.
