The funeral was attended by all of our officers, and as a mark of respect, the different sporting events which were to have taken place at the end of the month were cancelled. As we write, tbe Chief Civil Master Armourer is making his periodical inspection of the Arms of the Battalion. This is the first occasion the rifles have been inspected since we left Calcutta, and consequently the first inspection since we received the new short rifle. As promised last mouth, we present with this number as a photo-supplement, a reproduction of several pictures taken at our last Regimental games by Messrs. F. B. Stetvart and Son. The draw for the Attached officers Hockey Challenge Cup has been published and is as follows:--"E" versus "H," "D" versus "F," "C" versus "B," "G" versus "A." The tournament will be played off during the month of June. Dkar Sir, I think I can explain how the candelabra came into the Sergeants' Mess. When the Regimental Team won the InterRegimental Competition at the Curragh in 1888, the prize, amounting to about £60, was handed to the Officers' Mess. The team was chiefly composed of Sergeants, in fact except one officer, Lieut. Brooke, it consisted entirely of members of the Sergeants' Mess, and the prize was accepte...
