As a glyster in the convulsions of children, symptomatic of the irritation of teething or worms; in intestinal spasms. Dose. Fgft 3U frequently repeated. Mistura Camphore. Mixture of Camphor. Prep. Rub half a drachm of camphor with-ten minims of rectified spirit, and then with a pint of wa-ter gradually added, and strain through linen. Oper. Stimulant, antispasmodic, diaphoretic. Use. In the low stages of typhus and typhoid fevers, cynanche maligna, ipalignant measles, confluent small pox, hysteria, asthma, chorea, epilepsy; but principally used as a vehicle for more active medicines. Dose. j to f Jij three or four times a-day. Mistura Cascarillje Composita. Compound Mixture of Cascarilla. Prep. To seventeen fluid ounces of the infusion of cascarilla, and one fluid ounce of vinegar of squill, add two fluid ounces of the compound tincture of camphor. Oper. Stomachic, expectorant, diuretic. Use. In chronic bronchitis accompanied and continued by dyspepsia; old catarrh of drunkards. Dose. FJ j to Jij three or four times a-day. Mistura Cret;. Mixture of Chalk. Prep. Mix half an ounce of prepared chalk and three drachms of sugar with a fluid ounce and a half of mixture of acacia, and eighteen fluid ounces of cinnamonwater. Oper. Antacid, absorbent. Use. In diarrhoea accompanied with acidity of the primie viae. By a combination with catechu or opium, its efficacy is much increased.-, Dose. F j to f ij every three or four hours. Incomp.
