Cost Savings Strategies for the South Carolina Medicaid program

The Council reviewed the issues of Medicaid fraud and abuse and pharmaceutical expenditures. It also reviewed three other areas, with the goal of identifying cost savings. These areas include an expanded use of managed care, the health insurance premium payment program, and the eligibility determination contract with the DSS.
