The Suburban Shadows

A young woman is found brutally raped and murdered, beneath the water-line of the Chichester Canal Basin. At first, it seems to be an open and shut case - that someone close to her is responsible for her death. However, it soon transpires that things aren't as first thought when the police discover a connection with a series of unsolved murders, all of which bear the same sinister hallmark and have spanned decades. As Detective Sergeant Adam Kent ploughs deeper into the investigation, his suspicions are aroused when he uncovers the truth about someone harbouring a tragic past. But trying to convince his superiors to accept his theory seems like the greatest challenge of all. Before the next victim dies, Adam has to somehow persuade his colleagues that appearances can be deceptive and that lurking behind an innocuous façade lies the perverse, calculating mind of a killer.
