He makes no pretensions to originality, but has endeavored to study the inspired history in the light of the best helps within his reach, and has not hesitated to borrow ideas from every available source. With the earnest prayer that the "Sun of righteousness" may illuminate these pages, and thus make them a means for disseminating the light of the glorious gospel, they are sent forth upon their mission, and commended to the charitable consideration of the Christian world.
