Description
Excerpt from A Funeral Discourse, on David Perkins Page, A. M: Late Principal of the State Normal School, Albany
I. Corinthians VII. 30.
And they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not.
This wise and salutary caution is sufficiently enforced by the recent mournful event which, this evening, summons us to the house of God. The festive season has been suddenly overcast with gloom. The natural gladness of all hearts, at the commencement of a new year, has given place to universal sorrow. They that rejoice are as though they rejoiced not, for they have been taught by one of the most impressive lessons of Divine Providence, that the time is short, and that the fashion of this world passeth away.
