I Dream of Tulips: My Poems, My Life

This book consists of poems that were written from the author’s early teenage years to the present day. Having awakened one day faced with the knowledge of being abused, the author was mostly filled with a sense of loss, betrayal, insecurity, and unworthiness, with no confidence to speak the truth, but always having to deal with it. Fearful of hurting the ones closest to her, she remained silent for so long. Those who have been there will most definitely relive the pain. Those who have no idea will hopefully begin to understand that it never goes away, it never stops hurting. So most of the poems are the result of this hurt, others are evidence of looking for, finding, and sometimes losing love. Having a supportive and understanding husband has brought the author a long way, but by no means is it the end.
