The Child of the Heart: Book One: The Burning

Jenna McCormick is a typical Frostburg College professor. She enjoys her life. She almost has tenure. She takes a jog one day and is inexplicably transported to another planet in her own far future. This is the chronicle of Jenna's journey to a planet called Kozar and her attempt to get home again. She is met by a talking dog, horse and eagle-all of whom seem to be expecting her. They expect her to teach the settlers about technology. She's an English teacher and a card-carrying member of the apostrophe police who can't even program her own DVD player. Then there's the strange gypsy family whose progeny come up missing. Everybody thinks the teacher and her "pets" can solve the mystery and save the children. Jenna's choices, to help her new friends or just try to get home, cause her to rethink her life and make a difficult decision.
