Description
The Survivors is an autobiography of the courage and strength of a young Barbadian who found himself exposed to numerous dangers after volunteering to help in the Word War II effort. The ship on which he was travelling was torpedoed, he was rescued from a leaking lifeboat, he suffered frost bite, etc. When George finally arrived in Britain he was confronted with a number of diverse challenges which he was compelled to deal with. In Barbados nobody seemed to care about the men of the Wright contingency; all men of colour, who had lost their lives or about the ones who returned home. There is a monument in Barbados on the grave of Mr. Wright, a Barbadian of European descent, but no record is found of these brave young Barbadians who died at sea or who continued on.
