   "John Otto: Trials and Trails" was the result of considerable additional research (400 pages with chapter end notes, bibliography, index and approximately 31 photographs. The hardcover edition was tightly bound with a tendency for the spine to crack and split. Published 1996 by the University Press of Colorado; Niwot, Colorado.
   "John Otto: Trials and Trails" is the University Press of Colorado book with a few minor changes to the text. The chapter end notes, bibliography and index were removed. The hardcover and paperback editions were published 2008 through Xlibris Corporation's print-on-demand technology.  It is also available as an e-book.
   A fourth edition with considerably new information is being considered.
