The Avengers

In this story Detective Constable Liz Andresen of the London Metropolitan Police became involved in investigations of two series of crimes which, at first, seemed to be quite different. In one, individuals from various parts of London were savagely beaten, inducing in one of them a fatal heart attack. In the other type of crime several men were murdered and, apparently, robbed by a person who, it was thought, was a prostitute. The victims had picked up the killer in their cars. Finally, it was established that although the methods utilised in perpetrating the two types of crimes differed, the motive in both was the same: vengeance for acts, either real or imagined, that the victims had committed.
