By Thomas Hudson . 70 This cabinet portrait, 18 inches high, has never before been reproduced or even known, and portrays the general in his uniform of the Sixteenth Light Dragoons, which he raised, and was originally known as "Burgoyne's Horse." It is in the possession of Burgoyne's granddaughter, and I learned of it through the courtesy of Major General Hon. George Wrottesley, the son-in-law and biographer of Major General Sir John Fox Burgoyne. Reynolds painted Burgoyne in 1766, for the Count de la Lippe, but its whereabouts cannot be discovered. V. To look upon this portrait, or upon the familiar methodistical profile by Vanderlyn, it is quite impossible to reconcile his face and features with his character.
