"Post-Colonial Distances: The Study of Popular Music in Canada and Australia" extends from a conference that was organised with a very clear focus in mind; to explore comparisons between Canada and Australia in regard to the study of popular music. As the third and fourth largest Anglophone music markets, Canada and Australia offer some obvious points for comparison, and these are explored in this volume through various themes. Coherent theoretical threads associated with such post-colonial subject matter are drawn through a substantial span of subjects - music management, performance, production - and an array of styles - including country, jazz, blues, indigenous, and gospel.
