Deconstructing the Discourse of Revelation: high school students explore our cultural obsession with mentors, cult leaders, and messiahs

A semester long course focusing on prophets and awakening at a diverse small public high school in NYC led to this student-authored text. We explored the moment that a person, with the help of a wise mentor, breaks out of the "consensus trance" - as seen in popular culture (the Matrix), literature (Death Of Ivan Illych), religion (Gospel of Mark), and our own lives.
