Natasha Carmichael is a 109-year-old half-caste, or child born to a woman fed vampire blood during her pregnancy, of remarkable power. Twenty-six years ago she helped get an invading force of vampires off her coven's doorstep and vanished. When she learns the coven's leader, Rainor, is dying she returns to take over her duties as heir to the coven. At least that is the reason she admits to.
