Return from the Dead

James Grant was a top financial advisor with an international wealth management company. In May 2000 he faked his death in a boating accident on the Isle of Wight and his wife claimed over £2 million from the insurance company, which was also his employer. Unbeknown to his wife and anyone else, James Grant had lived a double life in Portugal until he found out that his wife was going to receive further money from his ex-employers and make a new life for herself in Peru with a new man friend. James wasn’t bothered about the new man friend, but he was bothered about her collecting more cash from his ex-employer, because he had planned to collect these monies himself in due course by way of pensions and other payments, although he was not certain at that point in time how. So in January 2005, five years after his faked death, James gave himself up to the police, claiming to be suffering from amnesia and in doing so incriminated his wife Jane, who was brought back from Peru and together they faced charges of fraud.
