"Applications" is the followup to "Complete Scale and Chord Theory for Guitar", by noted guitarist and instructor, Joe Livoti. This book is geared towards intermediate and advanced players who want to further their comping and soloing skills. It provides examples for real situations with an emphasis on jazz. The single note studies are in standard notation, and the book assumes an intermediate level of reading skill and theory. The chord section contains variations over popular vamps; polychords; rhythm changes; chord substitution; voice leading and motion; the use of the Diminished chord and an introduction to walking bass lines. There is also a detailed section on practice tips and routines. The scale section includes modal progressions and soloing; riffs over the Major, Minor, Dominant, Altered Dominant and Half Diminished chords; sample solos over two standard progressions; riffs over ii V I and I Vi ii V vamps; blues/jazz studies and ideas for rhythmic variety.
