Bryce Blackburn, nineteen years old and a native of a small town in Nebraska, has dropped out of college after failing to find his place there, and lives with his mother who has him seeing a psychiatrist for fear of a depression/mental disorder. He's a romantic, abstract thinker who wants to write short stories for a living, and often phases from one idea to the next after looking at the simplest or most complex of objects. He's overly aware of his surroundings and tends to analyze, much like a modern-day Holden Caulfield. Some may call him tongue-in-cheek, paranoid, bitter, or tragic, but he's cerebral and quick-witted enough to utilize the world around him to stimulate his creativity. On a Friday night like any other, what will be his reaction when an old friend whom he's loved and adored since childhood invites him to venture out of state for the first time? What is the proper response when times have changed, and what are the wages of forgoing his return home and continuing to explore the Midwest? Who's left to encourage his work as an artist and a writer and to advise him to pursue his dream, despite the naysayers in his life?
