Israel Land

Israel Land is one American woman's adventure living in the Holy Land for a year with her family after the Second Lebanon War. In Israel, she discovered a great deal about being a mother, a wife and a woman--all three roles accented by leaving her comfort zone. She experienced this unique country--its people, its sites and its culture; she witnessed the domestic and international politics of an adolescent nation existing in a hostile neighborhood; and she explored the curious nature of ancient and modern civilization co-existing, the supposed Jewish and Arab enemies peacefully dwelling in the same country and she watched the parallel stories of her adolescent children and this young nation unfold. She found solace at the sea; she ate a little too much humus; and searched for solutions to lasting peace. Throughout it all, she practiced tolerance and kept humor in the forefront of her journey.
