Overall, I enjoyed this excerpt and I'm curious to know how Jane and Pete fared with their transfer to Tokyo in the late 1980s. They went to jumpstart their 'brilliant' careers. It appeared that it was more for Pete's benefit than for Jane's. Also, I'd like to know who the dead gaijin was at the beginning of the story.
