Sublime Citizens Rise: Second Edition

The Earth surface is over 70% ocean. Technology in the lab today will enable colonization in the future. In less than forty years ocean colonies will be maturing. This story is about a colony called the Ocean Sanctuary. Here Citizens create a new culture only possible with advanced technology. The Ocean Sanctuary is a voluntary retirement community that prides itself on the sustainable and conscientious use of ocean resources, both on the surface and below, through the use of autonomous robots. Citizens manufacture and program the robots themselves in a homespun, crafting sort of way like pre-industrialized times. The robots carry out all daily activities necessary to maintain the lifestyle desired by the community. The culture nurtured there focuses on temperance, wisdom, self-reliance, scientific investigation, and skeptical inquiry. Some adopt the life stance of the Infinite Sublime, however, all are welcome. External and Medical Transparency is coordinated by a super-human artificial intelligence to reduce crime and extend life for all residence. The Citizens make and enforce the rules. Transparency ensures justice within the Sanctuary, but it does not influence the rest of the world. The story revolves around children who grow up in the Ocean Sanctuary and how their environment shapes their decisions. Is it enough to make the world a better place for yourself, or should the good of all be considered? What would you do with 70% of all the material wealth in the world?
