Honor and Sword: A Snapshot of Character and Fencing

This is an age when character, good manners and chivalry are quickly fading. We must counteract the declining standards in our culture by seeking ways to train up this young generation in the practical concepts that will carry them through life in a manner which produces positive relational impact. My desire is that young people will learn the value of Godly character while discovering the art of fencing where manners are not merely required but inherent. The journey of fencing has been very exciting and very odd. I thought I was only taking up a sport. I wanted to merely play and have a good time with some really neat people. But God wanted to also form my heart and call forth character. The journey of character is not an easy one. The journey of fencing is not an easy one either. Both require you to give of yourself. Both depict the "narrow path." Together they require you to lay down your life on many levels. They call you to look to your heart, to look to your life, to see who you really are --- so you can make the needed changes and learn to walk, instead, in who, before God, you were meant to be.
