The Tantric Path: The Chakras, Kundalini, and Jungian Psychology

Both Tantra and Jungian Psychology aspire to fathom the mysteries of the human psyche and create the necessary conditions for spiritual transformation. Tantra is an ancient spiritual system. The methods and language of Tantra are visionary, abounding in symbols and metaphors spontaneously produced in the meditations and visions of enlightened yogis. It symbolizes our metamorphosis in a system of chakras that open as we awaken various dimensions of the psyche. In each of these seven chakras, deities and other symbols portray the contents of consciousness and their functions found at each level. From the Jungian perspective, universal themes present in the myriad stories of heroes and heroines, and gods and goddesses, evident throughout world mythology, dramatize the developmental stages of our growth in consciousness. Each chapter focuses on one chakra to elaborate the psychological archetypes on the various dimensions of the psyche and concludes with meditation practices employing tantric procedures.
