Love and Awareness: A Consciousness for the New Age

LOVE AND AWARENESS is a rather unusual study showing the mutual interdependence between love and awareness. The author asks the uncanny questions if love is not perhaps an intense level of awareness or if not, vice versa, awareness is perhaps just another word for love? Taking an integrative approach, the author shows that we have by and large suppressed the intuitive wisdom of the ancient world and replaced it by what we use to call knowledge or science but which has little to do with the quality of our perception, but rather deals with information processing. Hence, the bold question to answer for the author was, what actually is perception, and how does it work? Retracing the research of Edward de Bono and others on the human memory surface, the author shows with many examples why what we call 'reality' is actually a 'processed reality', and not one that is pure and that we perceive directly; while the author doesn't deny the existence of direct perception, he concludes that this form of purity in perceiving reality is laid away with those who have gone through pychotherapy, and else those yogis, saints or masters who have integrated their perception bias and are aware of the pitfalls inherent in the perception process. Based upon his experience as a human resource facilitator, the author notes that people often do not realize their highest potential because they lack a critical mindset in the face of conformity pressure and the general solidifying framework of modern consumer culture that models citizens instead of accepting them as they are in their full humanity. To develop humanity at a level beyond the norm, self-awareness, love and critical thinking must go together, whereas mere criticism leads to inevitable projections. The study also contains a rather extended discussion of Krishnamurti's teaching regarding love and awareness, including a discussion about what K meant when he spoke about the 'content of consciousness' and what was his position regarding the interrelatedness of love and awareness.
