Enlightenment

I have come to realize that our minds alone don't guide us well. Joined by our hearts they may. Neither heart nor mind alone can reveal the truth. Yet when they speak as one, we gain the gift of conscience. For those who dedicate themselves to truth, progress can start slowly, like a locomotive hauling heavy freight. Eventually we pick up steam. In time we reach our destination. I picture it as a rustic country station. On the platform a stern but kind Stationmaster greets all who get off the train: "Wherever we travel, we are seeking the same place. We give our voyages different names, depending on our faith or lack of faith. But these are seldom more than names. "Whether you know it or not, clarity is what you're after, a diamond-like glimpse of the Divine. Great art may evoke this blessing. But only an honest life can confer it. "Surely, throughout the many universes, countless creatures, not unlike us, ponder life's purpose. Whatever their shapes or forms, the fortunate will come to this: Love is who I am. Love is why I am. And conscience is the lamp that lights my way. "To reach enlightenment you need nothing you don't already have. You have a mind. You have a heart. Let them speak as one and, magically, in your hand appears the key that opens the door to all you desire." May these little verses act as piano tuners for your spirits. As you read them, may your hearts and mind sing in resonance with truth. Read slowly and thoughtfully. The curtains of delusion will draw back before your eyes and let in the sacred light.
