Based on the true story of a woman who came to dominate the Great Portobelo Fair of Panama in the seventeenth century. No place on earth witnessed a concentration of more precious metal brought to the isthmus of Panama from Peru shortly after the conquest and exploitation of the West Indies by the Spanish Crown.
