Description

I believed—and I still believe—that marriage or having a partner is a strong foundation for life and society. When I went to study medicine in Belgium, I experienced loneliness. Even if I was 60 percent sure that my marriage with the parent of my children will not work, I decided to bring him to the USA, the country of my dreams, against my parents’ will. I put the interest of the children and my happiness first.
I knew that the sky is the limit for people who have big dreams and who are willing to work hard to achieve their dream in the USA.
I also believed that people who are educated are open-minded and tolerant to diversity and different cultures. I brought the father of my children because I needed a trustable and believable friend and partner in this country, where people like their comfort zone and where the culture is different from the one in my native country. In my country, someone can visit friends and family members without appointment. I never lived for a long time with the evil in Cameroon; I knew him well in the USA when I lived with him in the same house. Without my family’s help (mother, father, grandmother, sister, and children), I would not have been alive today.
This relationship was deteriorating because of many factors, like educational difference, the incompatibility in the vision of acceptable social values and norms, his lack of respect to me and my parents, his dishonest and very controlling behavior.
In the next line, I would describe my life with the evil and how I escaped from him.
