When you lose so many people, the ones you gain are so very important. Mina is a sixteen-year-old girl who has to move in with her eccentric Uncle Cedric Stein after her grandmother dies. Her new home doubles as a science lab, filled with unique inventions and rare creatures. She encounters many not-so-friendly townspeople and goes through a whirlwind of adventures. But Mina is thrilled to finally have a family and is especially pleased when she meets the seemingly normal Jack Frank, her uncle's assistant.
