The Doctorate 1957-1962

Thomas was a young black from the South struggling to obtain a doctorate degree in Physics at the University of Minnesota between 1957 and 1962 during the difficult period in the struggle for a better life for African Americans. Thomas was born into an under privileged family and a low class neighborhood. He struggled alone side more sophisticated Blacks and Whites, both sometime sympathetic sometimes hostile, to escape poverty and ignorance. He succeeded but the racial aspects in his love life, with Blacks and Whites, left him with a serious frustration crisis.
