Mobile Poems

On April 10, 2008, I wrote my first mobile poem. It was just another early Thursday morning on the Long Island Rail Road -- one of many days that just blur together when you commute to New York City day in and day out, year in and year out -- when I hopped on the 6:16 am express train to Penn Station. And of course, by 'hopped' I mean that I woke up at 5:32, Snoozed until 5:41, stumbled out of bed, left the house by 6:00 am sharp and willed myself to the parking lot by equal parts rote memory and actual alertness. But on that morning, I had one of those flashes, one of those moments of clarity where my conscious and subconscious selves simultaneously spoke to me. And so I listened. And then I hopped. But this time, I was actually HOPPING. And it didn't stop that day, nor did it stop that week, that month, that year. For over three years (and still counting), instead of shutting down on the train like I had for so long -- throughout all of the snowstorms and the heatwaves and everything in between -- I simply let it all go, and the result is this collection. I simply fell into the GAP of my imagination, and now, I invite you to WATCH..........
