Tales of an American Outcast is a psychological series that is set in the United States, spanning from the 1990's to the early 2000's. In this first book, Ashen Twilight, we follow Ariek Ashe, a quixotic and intelligent boy, as he makes his way toward adulthood in a world that really doesn't want him in it. He faces heartache, isolation, bullies, police, and dragons as his family moves from place to place through the backwaters of North Carolina. But can this boy survive to adulthood? Or will his anger and resentment toward the world at large eat him alive?
