1940 US Army Barracks

This is a short book for model makers. It includes background, HO scale exterior drawings and lessons learned in the construction of a 1:35 scale model of a World War II barracks building. In 1940 the United States began building the army that would fight World War II. Thousands of buildings were urgently needed to house this army while it trained here in the US. They were called temporary structures but lasted for more than 50 years. The iconic image of these structures is the 63 man barracks.
