When rare book dealer and freelance corporate investigator, Matt West, learns that his former guardian, Harry Lawson, is missing and may be involved in a murder, he rushes from Memphis to his hometown in Kansas to search for him. Hidden documents in an abandoned trunk from 1878 spark a puzzling and dangerous quest that takes Matt and two companions from rural Kansas to the ancient ruins of Ireland to find a priceless 17th century dagger which was stolen from King James II and holds the key to the disappearance of one friend and the kidnapping of another.
