In this book we explore and examine agency theory in politics, in economics, and in relation to the professions. Agency theory is getting people hired to perform tasks to do what you wish. It is present throughout politics, all over economics, as well as all through the professions. Various aspects of agency theory in the form of self-interest, goal conflict, asymmetric information, risk preferences, risk aversion, bounded rationality, moral hazard, and adverse selection, are represented in politics, in economics, and in relation to the professions. Agency theory has a rich and pervasive presence in all of these varied areas.
