The Carpenter and the Captain - The Mist of the Morning Star September 14, 1992 – Orange County Register Early this morning, the body of a deceased Long Beach resident was recovered from the Queen Mary breakwater. It appeared the man had been stabbed. The victim has been identified as Cheslav Cherstvennikov, a thirty six year old boat builder. He was affectionately known by locals and boating enthusiasts as “Russian Charlie.”
