Your Pathway to Jazz Piano

Your Pathway to Jazz Piano is for those who already play the piano (maybe 3 or 4 years of study) but want to learn how to go beyond what is on the written page by playing from lead sheets (a melody line and chord symbols). You will learn the theory behind chord symbols and create a practical application of that theory every time you play. You will also be encouraged to try doing something different when you play the same piece over again. The book is structured in a way that offers suggestions and multiple approaches for each song but leaves decisions up to you. This flexibility and creativity are the beginnings of building your own jazz style. Playing jazz requires developing skills (understanding chords, rhythms, theory, improvisation, etc.) and then using those skills to create something new and exciting.
