"The Church of the Triune God" What constitutes Church growth? “Church growth technique creates a giant game of evangelical musical chairs.” Many church growth gurus would like to claim they have impacted the Christian world, but in fact church growth is solely the work of the Holy Spirit. The critical question is: Is the process led by the Holy Spirit? Interestingly, the book of Acts, which is our guide, shows that the only thing the disciples had were, “the cloak of power from on High, the Holy Spirit inspired Word, and the power in the name of Jesus.” With that you have both the numbers and spiritual growth going in tandem as the Holy Spirit wills. The author argues that people know very little about the Holy Spirit. He argues that “This lack of knowledge has been the bane of the history of the Church and continues till this day.” What constitutes Church growth and the manner of growth? This book attempts to answer these questions. The author argues that the only evaluating tool available to the Church regarding her mission and growth is an intimacy with the Holy Spirit himself – he draws the people unto himself, purges the new “called- out;” grows the saints spiritually, and sustains his Church. The author argues that the Church must focus on Christ alone who sends the Holy Spirit, (the truth) to lead and to guide.
