The Masquerade

Henry Fenna has just accepted the title Baron of Wilomar for services to the crown. He has proven his valor on the battlefields of Spain and earned a position working for a spymaster known as the Silver Beaver. Henry must recover from a wounded leg, integrate into the ton, reconcile himself with his family (who he has not seen in ten years), learn to sleep without night terrors, and prepare for his mission to India. But when he comes to London for the Season of 1814 and sees Miss Jane Burnel at Lady Rauley’s annual masquerade, he realizes he has more to worry about. Miss Jane Burnel set her heart on an officer when her father went off to fight the French. Now in her fifth Season and with the war over, the officers she has waited patiently for can finally court her. With a handful of cavalry officers calling on her she cannot believe she is jealous of her younger sister, who is spending a great deal of time with the rather handsome Lord Fenna. After all, she wants an officer. But no one is who they seem in this masquerade, and Jane must find the courage to fight for the man she loves.
