While these happenings only last for a short period of time each year (while the May mists come to visit), they never-the-less provide the island's residents with highly amusing and often bewildering new perspectives on life - and ones that take on new and completely unexpected forms with each passing year. As the years go by it becomes increasingly clear to some that these mysterious occurrences are more than merely strange corruptions of reality, and that they are actually the early stirrings of a new conscious awakening. For a short time each year the residents of the island are able to experience the prelude to a greater reality - as it gently, but inevitably, moves ever closer to its grand arrival in late 2012. Eventually, each of the residents is faced with a path that is of their own making and they come to understand the significance of the changes that are upon them and the world as a whole. The choice of path is theirs alone to make - as it is ours, and this, I feel, is the essential message of the story: that we each have an ongoing choice to make and that the consequences of our choices are not too far away...
