Description

In the year 1563, Mary, Queen of Scots, passed Scotland's Witchcraft Act. The act not only made witchcraft illegal, but to consult with or defend a witch was also illegal. And so the witch hunts began.

By the time the act was revoked in 1736, around 4000 ordinary people had been accused, tortured, convicted and executed. They were all innocent.

Or were they?

When Peggy Stuart, a shy but independent nineteen year old, finds out that she shares her name with a notorious witch from the witch trials of the late 1600s, she feels the need to gain more information. Little did she know that her actions would lead to the resurrection of the witch, who has lain dormant for over 300 years waiting for the day she would be released to once again unleash her powers on an unsuspecting world.

The resulting events bring together Peggy and Matt Taylor who, at the age of twenty-three, is already an accomplished researcher in mythology based at the local university. Matt believes the answers don't lie in modern weaponry but instead lie in history and mythology. He works closely with Peggy to try to find a way to stop the witch before the authorities can carry out their plan to use desperate measures to stop her, which would have catastrophic consequences.

Matt and Peggy's investigation into the past not on uncovers the shocking truth about Peggy, but also reveals that in the world we all live in, things may not be as they seem, a discovery that will change their lives forever.
