Understanding what memory actually is – and how it works (and sometimes doesn’t) goes a long way towards being able to optimise our memory. We cannot do much about our genetic inheritance but we can minimise brain ‘damage’ and ageing loss through good nutrition and healthy activities. The old adage of ‘using it’ or ‘losing it’ aptly applies to memory, to the more ‘workouts’ you do the more memory can be retained – or even improved as we age.
