Ghost Chaser: A Thriller

Small-town homicide detective, Niles Patrick is called to the scene of a ghastly murder of a young woman early one morning where the only evidence the criminal forensics team finds is fingerprints, which Niles runs himself when he arrives at the station, gets a match and sees something extremely disturbing; the prints are his, although he didn't know the woman nor had he ever been to her home.
 
A few mornings later, another beautiful young woman is murdered at the same time via the same MO, her throat slit ear to ear. Niles and his partner of twenty years and best friend suspect they may have a serial killer on their hands.  When another young woman fitting the profile of the previous victims is slain in the same grisly manner the next morning, and the bodies start to pile up, Niles is chasing a serial killer who may or may not be himself, as the only evidence obtained so far points directly at him. Niles realizes it's just a matter of time before he becomes the primary person of interest, and he has precious little time to solve the mystery that's driving him to the brink of madness.
