The House They Saw
Description
Paul Barber believes his brain-damaged son Eli adores him and his wife Karen is his rock. But Karen wants a baby and Eli’s handicap hasn’t stopped him from dabbling in a succession of hobbies. For thirteen years Paul’s will binds them all together, but his control falters when Karen shows Eli how to play the family’s piano. Revealed as a prodigy, Eli soon becomes a virtuoso, and as Paul and Karen each try to support him in their own way, they can no longer hide their true desires. Karen’s desire to have a baby and Paul’s resolve to keep them all safe by clinging to the past clash; the harmony they have built shatters as their new life erupts out of the old, and they must fight to keep from being torn apart.
